The driver identification system that uses your own mobile device

D-iD helps protect your vehicle by alerting you if your vehicle is driven, a push notification will be sent to your device to confirm the vehicle is moving. If you receive this notification whilst not in your vehicle please press the SOS button which will inform our 24 hour 7 days a week monitored Secure Control Centre, who will then contact you immediately. If your vehicle is going into a safe place where you do not wish to receive notifications such as a workshop or garage, push notifications can be disabled for a maximum of 10 hours via Service Mode accessible through the Vehicle Dashboard.

D-iD™ is the brand new way of using your mobile device for driver identification. Rather than the traditional driver tag common with most S5 tracking systems, the D-iD™ app links directly with the tracking information to determine if your mobile device is within the vehicle when driving. The system is monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by the Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre.

Step 1

Press on the menu icon in the top left hand corner of the app, once the side menu appears, press the “Settings” button from the list.

Step 2

Press the “D-iD Notifications” option. This will bring up another screen with two options at the bottom of the screen; “Use This App” or “Use D-iD App”.

Step 3

Select ‘Use This App’ and once complete, the D-iD will be activated for use via GTE Track.. In most instances the customer will be taken directly to this stage and will bypass the other two. If a customer still has the D-iD App downloaded after following these three steps, they can now delete the D-iD App from their device.

What is D-iD™?

D-iD™ is an Android/Apple app that can work instead of the driver tags. Your mobile device has to be in your possession and the app has to be active when driving your vehicle. If your mobile device is not present when driving the Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre will call you to confirm your vehicle is safe.

How does D-iD™ differ to existing Global Telemetrics tracking devices & programmes?

With the D-iD™ system, you no longer have to carry driver tags whenever you drive your vehicle. The driver identification utilises your mobile device instead.

How does Global Telemetrics hold data regarding my phone and/or movements?

No information from the D-iD™ app is held on any Global Telemetrics servers. The information is only stored on the end-users handset/mobile device. For further information, please view our Privacy Policy by visiting globaltelemetrics.com/terms.

How will the D-iD™ app impact my mobile phone battery life?

The app is designed to periodically wake in the background to inform our servers it’s ready and listening for new events on the vehicle. There will be some drain when this happens, but it will be negligible. When the verification process starts, it uses more battery power because it sets off location processing, Bluetooth connectivity, and network connections. These all have an impact.

How will the D-iD™ app impact my data usage?

The app uses minimal data to operate and this is dependant on how many times the vehicle is started and driven.

How is my personal information kept safe?

What if I have forgotten my mobile phone or my phone has ran flat or I am in a low signal area?

Global Telemetrics will contact the customer using all means, possibly leaving messages and sending texts where applicable. Therefore, we advise, where possible, for the customer to have more than one contact number for Global Telemetrics to contact.

Can my partner/spouse also have a D-iD™ login?

Yes, they can; however, this can only be requested by the main account holder. This has to be requested in writing by emailing customerservices@globaltelemetrics.com.

How does the D-iD™ app work?

The app communicates with the tracking device to clarify that the customers’ mobile device is within the vehicle when driving. In addition, the app connects directly to the customers tracking data and confirms if the mobile device is within the same area as the vehicle.

What's the difference between automatic and manual modes?

There are two different modes within the app:

Automatic
This will only push messages through if the app activated on the mobile device is not within the vehicle when driving.

Manual
This will push a message through every time the vehicle is driven, asking the end-user to confirm if the vehicle is safe.

Is D-iD™ Thatcham assured?

Yes, D-iD™ has been processed through the Thatcham criteria for the S5 category.
