Helping to protect your vehicle even while you are asleep

I know what you are thinking… why a case study about one of the most stolen vehicles in the UK and the vehicle that made up 67% of May ‘22’s recovery figures.

With the recovery of this Range Rover highlights the efficiency and frankly brilliance of the SmarTrack Trident S7 device, our 24/7 Control Centre and our Repatriations Team. Yes that’s correct with this one we are showing off!

With nearly half the year gone, May was yet another busy month for Global Telemetrics with £3.4m worth of vehicles recovered this month. This brings the total number of vehicles recovered so far to £17.8m. This is now only just over £5m away from the whole of last year’s total of £23m.

17 Jun: Theft Case Study: Land Rover Discovery

This theft is fairly unique in that it happened in the middle of the day in a residential area in a busy part of Birmingham. Whilst not all thefts happen at night, thefts during the middle of the day are not something that happens all the time. For this unlucky customer his Land Rover Discovery was stolen just after midday on a Sunday afternoon.

15 Jun: Theft Case Study: Fiat Ducato Autotrail Motorhome

There is a myth that if your vehicle is stolen and you don’t get it back within the first 48 hours then you wont get it back at all. Thankfully, this is definitely a myth and not fact and the following case study shows that even after a few days a vehicle can be found and recovered back to a customer.
Sadly, this also means we see a rise in theft numbers for this type of vehicle. This was the case in February where we had a theft and recovery of a Fiat Ducato Autotrail Motorhome in the London area.

30 Mar: Theft Case Study: Stolen Range Rover Sport

Case Study, Theft from Train Station – Range Rover Sport

Earlier this month (March ‘22), the Global Telemetrics control centre called our customer on an alert call after we were notified that their Range Rover Sport was moving without the driver detection card present. This is a fairly common occurrence and usually a routine call for our control centre, but not for this Range Rover.

Our customer confirmed that the car had been parked at a railway station since the morning and if it was moving it had definitely been stolen. Following procedure our SVR team advised the customer to contact the police and obtain a crime reference number.

Theft Case Study: Stolen Coachman Wanderer – Caravan

When it comes to vehicle theft nothing is safe from becoming a target. As mentioned previously in some of our other blogs, as the weather improves there is an increased number of caravans and motorhomes on roads but even the storage centres where they are stored for winter can be a target.

In late January this was the case for one of our customers who had their Coachman Wanderer stolen from the storage site where it was located.

18 Mar: February 2022 Theft Highlights

FEBRUARY 2022 THEFT HIGHLIGHTS

2 months into the year and Global Telemetrics have now passed £5 million pounds worth of assets recovered this year. The amount of recovered vehicles for February continued January’s trend of recovering more than one vehicle per day.

As we always see when analysing theft data for the month the Range Rover continues to be the most stolen vehicle with 31% of the vehicles recovered this month being a variation of the Range Rover equating to over £1 millions worth of vehicles.
