Another £3 Million of Stolen Vehicles Recovered with Global Telemetrics/SmarTrack

August proved to be another significant month for SmarTrack and Global Telemetrics vehicle recoveries, with £3 million worth of stolen vehicles successfully recovered.
From prestige supercars and luxury SUVs to pick-up trucks and even a quad bike, the month demonstrated just how varied the vehicles targeted by thieves can be.
The latest results also bring the value of vehicles recovered during 20 years of SmarTrack to more than £332 million.
What were thieves targeting in August?
Land Rover vehicles featured prominently amongst August’s recoveries, with the Range Rover Sport becoming the most recovered model of the month.
Other Land Rover models recovered included the Discovery, Defender and Range Rover SE.
However, it certainly wasn’t only SUVs being targeted. The month’s recoveries covered vehicles from a wide range of manufacturers, including:
- Rolls-Royce Cullinan
- Lamborghini Urus and Revuelto
- Porsche Taycan
- Audi S3, SQ8 and R8
- BMW M2, X5 and X6
- Toyota Land Cruiser, Hilux and Corolla
- Nissan Navara
- Volkswagen Golf
- Yamaha Kodiak 700 quad bike
Two recoveries in particular stood out during a very busy month.
Stolen Lamborghini located in under 20 minutes
One of August’s most dramatic cases involved a Lamborghini Revuelto that had been stolen at gunpoint.
The Global Telemetrics team was alerted to the theft and asked to establish whether the Lamborghini was fitted with a SmarTrack vehicle tracking system.
Fortunately, it was.
Once the protection on the vehicle had been confirmed, its location could be established and armed police officers seized the Lamborghini less than 20 minutes later.
For the owner, what began as an extremely distressing situation resulted in the vehicle being located and secured remarkably quickly.
A very clean recovery
Another memorable recovery began when the owner of a Nissan Navara woke to discover their vehicle had disappeared overnight.
They contacted the Global Telemetrics Secure Control Centre, and the theft was passed to the Repatriations Team.
Just 15 minutes after that initial call, the Navara had been located.
There was also a rather unexpected twist.
When the vehicle was found, it was in the process of receiving a full wash and polish.
The thieves may have wanted a clean getaway, but Global Telemetrics had other ideas.
Lancashire becomes August’s biggest recovery hotspot
August also brought a change in where SmarTrack-protected vehicles were being recovered following theft.
London would ordinarily be expected to feature heavily, but this time Lancashire took the top spot, accounting for 19% of recoveries during the month.
London came second, with vehicles targeted across several boroughs, while Hertfordshire and Surrey shared third place.
It highlights why vehicle security isn’t simply a concern for drivers living or working in the capital. Theft can happen anywhere, and vehicles of very different types and values can become targets.
20 years of SmarTrack recoveries
Every stolen vehicle comes with its own circumstances, but the objective remains the same: help locate and recover it as quickly as possible.
August added another £3 million of vehicles to Global Telemetrics recovery figures, bringing the total value of vehicles recovered across 20 years to more than £332 million.
Whether you’re protecting a supercar, SUV, performance vehicle, pick-up or another prized vehicle, SmarTrack provides an additional layer of protection should the worst happen.
