Spring is upon us. We are about to welcome bright colours, beautiful flowers and lots of chocolate. We look back to February when Global Telemetrics recovered £1.9m worth of vehicles, a 600k increase on January’s £1.3m.

February’s Facts and Figures

Similar to almost every month before it, Land Rover models took the top spot for the most recovered vehicle during the month, with 25% of all vehicles stolen this month. Singularly, it was a 3-way tie for the top spot of models recovered, with the Range Rover Vogue and Land Rover Discovery joining the Mercedes GLA for the most recovered during February.

February saw a wide range of stolen vehicles. Other notable recoveries included a Lexus RX 450H, Ford Transit, Peugeot Boxer, Mercedes Sprinter, Fiat Ducato-based Motorhomes, Mercedes AMG G 63, Toyota Alphard, Porsche Macan, Audis including the A3, RS 6 and e-Tron, Mercedes CLA, Iveco Daily, and a Ferrari 488 Pista.

February’s Most Interesting Recovery

When it comes to the most interesting recovery for February, it is, without a doubt, the recovery of the Ferrari 488 Pista. However, in true teasing fashion, we cannot divulge the details currently. As soon as we are able to release the details, we will publish footage and its own blog all about this massively interesting case!

February’s Quickest Recovery

19 minutes is all it took from the moment our customer confirmed with our Secure Control Centre that their Range Rover Autobiography had been stolen for our Repatriations Team and the police to locate and secure the vehicle. This Range Rover was stolen at 7.41 pm in Wolverhampton outside the customers’ workplace and was safe and secure with our teams at 8.00 pm.

Hotspots

London continues to lead the way when it comes to where vehicles are stolen. In February, 38% of all vehicles recovered were stolen in London. In a surprising second place, this month is Lancashire, taking what is usually a spot reserved for the West Midlands or Essex. Lancashire made up 21% of all recoveries this month. The aforementioned West Midlands was a joint third, with West Yorkshire each accounting for 8% of all recoveries during February.

Looking forward

As mentioned in the opening paragraph, spring is upon us and this usually signifies more motorhomes and caravans coming out on our roads. Sadly, this inevitably increases the number of thefts for both. This year we have already seen a caravan stolen from its storage yard and some motorhomes also stolen. As the holiday season approaches, this will only increase. Last year, Global Telemetrics released a motorhome theft awareness video, which can be viewed below:
