Sadly, it didn’t come home! A month of football ended in disappointment around the country as England lost their second Euros final in a row. Meanwhile, thieves continued their run of stealing vehicles but, similar to Southgate’s team, ultimately came up short as Global Telemetrics monitored devices recovered £1.8m worth of vehicles for our customers.
June’s Facts and Figures:
As each month before, June continues the trend of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles topping the charts of our most recovered vehicles list. Usually around 40% of all vehicles recovered are models of Jaguar Land Rover, For June, it was 22% of all vehicles recovered, with the Range Rover Sport and Evoque being the most common stolen and recovered.
As indicated by the percentage of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles recovered, June saw a much wider range of stolen vehicles, including models of Porsche, Ford, Lexus, Toyota, BMW, Audi, KIA, Alfa Romeo, Yamaha, and Honda.
June’s Most Interesting Recovery
Last year, one of our customers had their Ferrari 488 Pista stolen from an underground car park in Kensington. They were able to obtain footage which showed the gang of thieves, who were armed with a machete, stealing their Ferrari alongside another untracked car. This was footage that we shared across all our social media channels and can be viewed below
At the end of June, the same customer in the same underground parking garage had their partner’s Porsche Macan stolen. Thankfully, because they were protected with a SmarTrack tracking device, the result was once again the same: the vehicle was found and returned to the customer.
June’s Quickest Recovery
At Global Telemetrics, we work with our own auto-crime investigation repatriations team. We have found over the years that this significantly speeds up recovery success and reduces the time in which vehicles are recovered. This was the case when it came to our customers’ stolen Ford Ranger. One of our big finance company clients informed us that their vehicle had been stolen overnight, and we passed it straight to our repatriation team. Armed with the location from the SmarTrack device installed, they were at the location and secured the vehicle within 11 minutes!
Hotspots
London continues to top the charts when it comes to vehicle thefts. During June, over half of all vehicles recovered were stolen in the London area, with Tower Hamlets being the most targeted borough, with 29% of all London thefts being from the area. In second place for June is the West Midlands, with 22% of all recoveries being for vehicles stolen in the West Midlands area. Third was Essex, with 8% of all recoveries.
It’s Not Just Cars We Recover!
Whilst we cannot deny that most vehicles we have stolen are cars, our tracking systems are suitable and help protect many different vehicles, including plant machinery and motorbikes. At the end of June, we had a spate of motorbikes stolen and recovered, models of Yamaha and Honda were targeted. One of the bikes, a Yamaha YZF R6, was taken in broad daylight outside an NHS Surgery while our customer was inside. Thankfully, our Repatriations Team and the police were able to locate and recover in just over an hour.
