Quarter 3 is now well underway and summer is upon us. During July, Global Telemetrics were responsible for the recovery of £1.8m worth of vehicles. This is on par with the last two July’s which have seen a slight dip during the summer months before rising towards the end of the year.
So far in 2023, Global Telemetrics have now recovered £23.3m worth of vehicles.
July’s Facts and Figures
July, like every month is dominated by Jaguar Land Rover being the vehicles recovered the most. For July 47% of all vehicles recovered were a model of JLR vehicle. This month, the Range Rover Vogue took the spot for the number 1 vehicle recovered overall with 24% of all vehicles recovered this month being a Range Rover Vogue.
Other vehicles recovered this month included Range Rover Sport, Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover Evoque, Ford Transit, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, Mercedes Sprinter, Audi R8, Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen California and Citroen Relay. It’s also not just cars that Global Telemetrics recover as a Yamaha NS 50 Aerox R was also recovered.
July’s Fastest Recovery
23 minutes was it all it took for our customer to have their Range Rover Vogue recovered at the end of July. One thing we always stress as a company is that if you have our Driver Detection cards please do not leave these in the car. Unfortunately, this was the case for the customer of this Range Rover, thankfully due to their quick work in calling us, our Repatriations Team alongside the police were able to secure and recover the vehicle in only a short period of time.
July’s Most Interesting Recovery
Global Telemetrics are very proud to work alongside the longest running Auto-Crime Investigation Repatriations Teams and they consistently year after year prove to be invaluable to our Stolen Vehicle Recovery service. With teams all over the UK and a network that covers most of Europe and further beyond if required, their support has helped Global Telemetrics recover vehicles all across the world. In July, one of our finance customers had a report their vehicle had been stolen and quickly contacted us so we could jump on the case. A quick check of the location showed the vehicle moving through France heading towards Italy. It was apparent fairly quickly that this one wasn’t going to trouble the fastest recovery leader board!
Due to the fantastic work of our Repatriations Team liaising with their colleagues and the French Police a few hours after being informed, the police and our Repatriations Team intercepted the vehicle on a truck which was destined for Albania. The car in question? A Lamborghini Urus worth over £200,000 pounds. A great result for our teams and the police.
Hotspots
London once again leads the way when it comes to location of vehicles stolen with 29% of all vehicles stolen being from a London Borough. Borough’s targeted include Barnet, Greenwich, Hillingdon, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster.
Second place for hotspots in July closely behind London on 24% was the West Midlands with Somerset taking a surprising 3rd place with 12%
Looking Forward
You may have already seen our new awareness campaign, under our SmarTrack brand, for ‘Back to Basics’ in which we are encouraging all vehicle owners to remember and utilise the basics of protecting your vehicle. Even though your vehicle may have a tracking device or immobiliser installed there are still plenty of steps and measures owners can take to further protect their vehicle. These will be featured across our SmarTrack social media pages.
