In the month that the football season returned and the transfer window slammed shut, with millions being spent, Global Telemetrics were ourselves recouping millions in the way of recovered vehicles. During August, our 24/7 monitored vehicle tracking systems were responsible for the recovery of £2.6m worth of vehicles for our customers.
August’s Facts and Figures
After a few months of shared top spots, one manufacturer, Ford, rose above the rest this August. Known for its popularity and frequent appearance in DVLA vehicle theft figures, Ford was our most recovered vehicle manufacturer in 2007 with the Ford Transit.
In August, 22% of all vehicles recovered were Ford models, with the Ford Transit being the most frequently stolen and recovered. Other Ford models recovered this month included the Ranger, Transit-based motorhomes, and the Focus. The Toyota Hilux shared the top spot for the most stolen model with the Ford Transit, each accounting for 13% of vehicles recovered.
Other notable recoveries this month included Land Rover/Range Rover models such as the Sport, Vogue, and Discovery, alongside the Volvo XC90, Volkswagen Transporters, Jaguar F-Types, Chausson Flash, Lexus LX 570, Slane MHT 1000, Porsche Cayman, BMW 420i, and Mercedes models such as the GLC, GLE, and S400.
August’s Most Interesting Recovery
August saw another chop shop taken down thanks to our outstanding Repatriations Team and the police. A customer’s Mercedes GLE 350 was stolen overnight from their home. Once the theft was confirmed at our Secure Control Centre, our repatriations team quickly acted on the location provided. Attending the scene with Kent Police, they discovered a chop shop containing four vehicles, including two BMWs, another Mercedes, and our customer’s GLE. Two individuals were arrested on the spot.
August’s Quickest Recovery
Thanks to our in-house Repatriations Team, we can recover vehicles for our customers swiftly and securely. Over the years, we’ve achieved numerous recoveries in under 10 minutes, with several taking as little as 6 minutes. This month, a recovery was completed in just 19 minutes after a vehicle was stolen from an Ikea car park in the West Midlands. Our customer was alerted to the security threat when the vehicle was moved without authorisation. Utilising location data from the GPS tracking device installed, Global Telemetrics quickly facilitated a swift recovery operation.
Hotspots
After claiming the top spot last month for the first time in our recovery highlights, the West Midlands held its lead in August, accounting for 26% of all recoveries. London took second place with 17%, and Essex followed in third with 13%.
